Yesterday would have been my Grandpa’s 92nd birthday. We hung two photos taken during his memorial in a large format in our living room. Pretty fitting. I finally finished the painting of him in the glaciers of Alaska. A little bit of a different style for me- I didn’t want to get caught up in making everything look exactly like the photography of him and instead just catch the essence of the beautiful pure blues of the water and ice. It’s the kind of dreamy imagined memory quality that I was going for. Bright palette. There’s a slight glare from my lamp on the right side that is kind of washing out the nuances of the snow.
