I took 2 days off work this week to spend an extended weekend visiting my parents on the North Shore. It’s our first trip apart since we got married. I think Travis is surviving without me – but may be surviving on cereal and baked beans while I’m gone.
Something I love about my parents house is how rich it is in family history. There are photos throughout the house of our family. The entrance most used has a long wide hallway that is filled with black and white prints from our family. Some date all the way back to the late 19th century. A few film prints of mine are mixed in there as well. I love that my parents remind themselves daily of the ones they love.
My mom and I had a semi-serious conversation today regarding the fact that my paintings, drawings, and photography are in literally every room of the house. I may need to steal those back some day, but for now I’ll let them be part of the family history that makes their house into a home.
These are some “growing up” photos that brought back great memories of where I’ve come from.
