I took time away from this painting to help finish it. I always need perspective to help me stay patient, and to not be satisfied with just good enough. So I started this in September, and took four days to lay the under painting with just form and color using my palette knife. Then a few weeks later I started adding thei variations of color light to dark/warm to cool as well as texture, again with my palette knife. And then I left it for a month and went back in after looking at it every day without touching it. I adjusted some hues and gave a little more hint of details.
I am working on moving away from my desire to make every painting photo realistic. The studies I did in watercolor helped, and this painting in acrylic on Masonite hardboard was a new challenge for me to give enough information to give an impression, without being literal.
