El camino de Santiago

This time last year, my sister and mom walked el camino de Santiago – a 500 mile pilgrimage across Spain. My mom asked if I would do a few pieces for her to commemorate the trip and all that it meant for her. I took the opportunity with the long weekend to pick up where I left off on the first small piece. It’s a scene from one of the albergues they stayed at. Each night after the day’s journey, they would pay a small fee to get a meal, a bed in a hostel style room, and have a chance to wash their clothes. I am looking forward to working on a few more pieces from this trip. It can be a challenge working on something that holds so much meaning just from a few photos, but I think this captures the solitude and simplicity of the daily hand washing of her clothes.
