silence on the blog

You may have noticed some silence on the blog. My goal is to update on life and art on a regular basis, but lately that just hasn’t been happening. It is hard to work while managing a chronic illness – regardless of whether you show up to a large office or work from home. My body has not been cooperating, so I haven’t been painting as much as I would like. I just finished one commission, which I will blog shortly, and am working on another surprise one due at the end of the month. Both are beautiful, and I love working on pieces that hold special meaning. It also means that I haven’t been painting from my list of ideas (yes, I keep a list!). I will soon, but for now it is a balance of rest, paint commissions, and rest some more. I struggle with feeling “productive enough” during these symptom flares. I know the most important job is to get out of the flare, and also to follow through with painting commitments. Both of which I am doing. But I miss having energy, I miss going to the gym (and I miss how my muscles looked and felt), and I miss feeling independent during these times. I am very fortunate to have a husband who understands the ins and the outs, and is able to carry extra responsibilities during these times.

We were very fortunate to have a dear friend from our college days come in to town last weekend. He helped us make the move to our new apartment, which we would not have been able to do on our own. This was exhausting but also a huge weight lifted from us. We loved the quaintness of our little house we rented, but ran into some major health and safety code issues while living there. So we are thankful to be out of that situation! It is much more restful at our new place, and I have a wonderful space to paint. I’ll be sure to blog about working at home in a small space too. It is cozy!

For now, I will get back to my cycle of rest, paint, and repeat. I wanted to drop a line and let you know that I am still here!
